In a very limited area of Grosseto province Morellino grapes are grown. This area stretches from the hills of Ombrone e Albegna rivers and the rural area of Scansano to Manciano, Magliano in Toscana, Grosseto, Campagnatico Semproniano and Roccalbegna villages.

Ruby red, fruity aroma (marasca, red fruits and plum), spicy notes and vanilla, a dry robust taste, slightly tannic to soft to drink are the characteristics that made this wine very popular lately. Its origins though are quite old, they in fact trace back to the first inhabitants of the area: the Etruschi. Morellino today counts on Denominazione di Origine Controllata (1978) upgraded to DOCG.
